CLEVELAND — The Cleveland Browns have announced who will be calling games for the team on the radio this season following Jim Donovan's departure due to his ongoing battle with cancer.
In a release, the team announced Thursday that Andrew Siciliano has been named as the team's new radio play-by-play announcer.
"We were so honored to have Jim Donovan as the Voice of the Cleveland Browns for 25 seasons, and we will be missing him in the radio booth this year," said Johnson in a statement. "Last season we were able to bring Andrew Siciliano on for a number of games, and his passion for the Browns and this fanbase shines through his commentary. We're looking forward to having his voice lead the Dawg Pound on the radio call during the 2024 season."
Siciliano, formerly of the NFL Network, filled in for Donovan for several games during the 2023 season while the latter stepped away to battle leukemia.
"I'm honored for the opportunity, but wish the circumstances were different," Siciliano said. "Like every Browns fan, I was stunned last week when I learned of Jim's retirement. I know I have big shoes to fill. Jim's an icon, an amazing man and an indelible part of this community. I'm so grateful to Jim for his gracious support last season when I did a few games and will never forget sitting in the stands and listening to his call when the Browns clinched the playoffs in Week 17."
Siciliano, a veteran television and radio broadcaster, previously served as host of NFL Sunday Ticket Red Zone, airing on DirecTV from 2005-23 and as a host for NFL Total Access on the NFL Network. Additionally, he covered the Olympics in 2014, 2016 and 2024 and served as a play-by-play announcer for Big Ten Football on NBC in 2023.
A native of Reston, Virginia, Siciliano previously said that the opportunity to call a Browns game was a "childhood dream." His father was born in Northeast Ohio, leading to Siciliano being raised as a Cleveland Browns fan.
Donovan, who has served as "The Voice of the Cleveland Browns" since 1999, announced on Aug. 29 that he would stepping down as he continues to fight cancer.
In a letter to Browns fans, Donovan stated that his cancer has returned "very aggressively," requiring him to devote everything he has "to continue the fight."
"Not a day has gone by when I haven't paused and been so proud to be "The Voice of the Browns," Donovan added in his note to fans. "Cheryl (Jimmy's wife), Meghan (Jimmy's daughter) and I thank you for all the love, support and prayers during my rough patches. It's like having a huge family around us. And that's what makes the Cleveland Browns so special. You do."
Siciliano will join color commentator Nathan Zegura on Browns radio network broadcasts with sideline reporting by three-time Super Bowl champion Je'Rod Cherry. The trio can be heard on 92.3 The Fan, 98.5 WNCX, 850 ESPN Cleveland, The Cleveland Browns Radio Network, ClevelandBrowns.com and the Browns mobile app.
