Cleveland Browns honor Jim Donovan with special helmet decal

Additionally, fans outside Huntington Bank Field were invited to sign a banner paying homage to Jimmy's legacy.

CLEVELAND โ€” It's been more than a week since we lost Jim Donovan, and while the pain is still very real, his memory will continue to be with us forever. The team he loved so much is doing its part to make sure of that.

Prior to Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Browns unveiled a special decal that will be worn on players' helmets for the remainder of the season. The sticker features a brown microphone with the initials "JD" emblazoned on it in orange, the same logo the club has shared as its social media avatar since Donovan's death on Oct. 26.

"Continuing to honor the legend ๐Ÿงก," the team declared on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Jimmy was a beloved and distinguished member of the Cleveland sports media scene for nearly four decades, having worked here at WKYC as a sports and news anchor from 1985 until this past June. When the Browns returned to the NFL in 1999, he became the team's play-by-play voice on the radio, and remained there for 25 years before his health forced him to step down prior to this season.

Since Jimmy's passing following a long battle with leukemia, tributes have poured in from across Cleveland and the country, and the Browns have been at the forefront. The team honored Donovan with a video montage and moment of silence before last week's game at Huntington Bank Field, and following a 29-24 upset win over the Baltimore Ravens, head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry personally delivered the game ball to Jimmy's wife Cheryl and daughter Meghan.

Additionally, prior to today's game in Cleveland, fans outside the stadium were invited to sign a banner celebrating Jim's legacy, and the Dawg Pound faithful more than delivered.
