FINDLAY, Ohio — The city of Findlay was awarded funding for a water infrastructure project, according to a press release from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine's office Monday.
Findlay is among 13 projects awarded funding, which were provided as a part of the state's H2Ohio initiative, which the governor's office said is to increase access to safe drinking water. Out of the $16.7 million in funding from the Ohio EPA and governor's office, Findlay received $1 million for the purposes of upgrades to the Spring Lake Sanitary Sewer.
According to a data sheet linked in the press release, the Spring Lake sewer system, as a subdivision of Findlay, was previously tied into the Findlay sewer system. Now, this new funding will enable improvements to sewer system.
Clark and Portage counties, as well as several other Ohio sewer and water districts, were among the other recipients.
The money was awarded from the sixth round of H2Ohio grants; the initiative was launched by DeWine in 2019, and addresses water quality issues across the state, including algal blooms, runoff, farming and more.
