BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) - Residents in Bowling Green joined veterans and local leaders to commemorate Memorial Day at the county courthouse.
There were plenty of festivities and remembrances, highlighted by a parade, which made its way through city streets.
"Was nice to honor those vets of WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam and Afghanistan and Iraq, to just remember them and the sacrifices. Their families and themselves have made the ultimate sacrifice," said Matt Benner from Indianapolis.
Residents young and old came out to show their appreciation for the veterans, while learning valuable lessons.
"We're trying to teach our kids about all the sacrifices that were made for them, so that we could be free and live the life that we want to live," said the Wiles family.
The parade had several stops along the way, including at the Wood County Courthouse for the laying of a wreath and a 21-gun firing volley at the Oak Grove Cemetery.
