James Worley found guilty in the murder and kidnapping of Sierah Joughin

Nearly two years after Sierah Joughin death, the jury has made a verdict in The People vs. James Worley trial.

FULTON COUNTY, OH (WTOL) - Nearly two years after Sierah Joughin's death, the jury in The People vs. James Worley trial have found James Worley Guilty on 19 counts of all 17 charges.

Because Worley was found guilty of aggravated murder, he could face the death penalty. The Guilty charge of Aggravated Murder means that Worley could face the death penalty.

The jury will reconvene Monday morning at 9 a.m. to begin the sentencing phase of this trial which will be the final phase. The jury was given four routes  which could seal Worley's fate; death penalty, a life sentence without parole, or a life sentence with the chance of parole after 25 or 30 years.

The state will present its case to the jury which will include a testimony in regards to the aggravating circumstances to the aggravated murder charge. After the defense present its mitigating factors

Jurors are still not able to speak about the case outside of the courtroom.

"You are only half way through the case," Judge Jeffery Robinson stated to the jurors.

Judge Robinson also advised the jurors to avoid social media.

During the sentencing phase of the trial, Worley can make a statement to the jurors or present any evidence during mitigation, as the attorney's have been preparing for this phase.

The verdict comes in day two of deliberation and after one of of the original jurors was dismissed.
