TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - The Online Exchange Zone is now available at the Toledo Police Department's Scott Park District Station.
The zone is staffed with an officer 24-hours-a-day 7-days-a-week. Police say this is something that helps to greatly reduce the chance of being victimized when purchasing something from Craigslist or other online services.
“If you want to buy some electronics or some memorabilia, whatever it is that you find online on Craigslist or whatever excites you,” said Sergeant Joe Heffernan with the Toledo Police Department, “you want to have a safe place to meet somebody that you don't know, exchange some cash for some goods, this is an area you can do it.”
A camera keeps a close eye on the Online Exchange Zone and an officer only gets involved if a transaction turns criminal in anyway.
