TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) - In an effort to improve health systems throughout the state six leading health systems are coming together to form the Midwest Health Collaborative.
Randy Oostra, President and CEO of ProMedica says this collaboration will provide more effective and efficient care for patients and also help with costs. He says now they'll be able to buy supplies together and contract with each other, instead of using a middle man.
Oostra also says all six health systems have something to bring to the table, making this collaboration a great thing for healthcare in the state of Ohio.
"I think it's something that's got great potential, relative to changing how we've independently dealt with healthcare, and it is going to just make us more effective and more efficient, and ultimately benefit patients," Oostra said.
The six healthcare systems involved in this collaboration include 40 hospitals and hundreds of care sites across the state including:
- Aultman – Canton and northeast Ohio
- Cleveland Clinic – Cleveland and northeast Ohio
- Ohio Health – Columbus, north central and southeast Ohio
- Premier Health – Dayton and southwest Ohio
- ProMedica – Toledo, northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan
- TriHealth – Cincinnati and southwest Ohio
