VAN BUREN, OH (WTOL) - The gateway to learning is going digital at Van Buren Middle School. The school named the program "One-to-One Computing." Every child that attends grades six through eight will receive a new laptop to take home with them for the year.
Principal Jay Clark feels this will revolutionize how teachers teach. He also says it will change students' ability to show teachers things on a computer and bring up websites.
Van Buren is spending less money on the laptops than what they would spend on new text books, which Clark says can become outdated in a year.
Network Administrator Matt Bostdorff says, "The program is being offered through Verizon Wireless. Because we're a government entity, we're also able to take advantage of some different pricing than what would be offered to a private customer."
