TOLEDO, OH (WTOL) - The University of Pittsburgh is calling out Whitmer High School saying it is illegally using the university's mascot.
Whitmer is already making changes as quickly as they can but certain logos on the school's property like the one sewn into the turf on the football field are just too costly to change.
In a letter to the university, Whitmer High requested permission to use that logo until smaller items like stationary letterhead and website logos can be changed to a newer one designed by a student. The bigger versions they want to keep, but will give the University of Pittsburgh credit.
"It's not a cheap item but we've communicated with the University of Pittsburgh and generally these work out," said Athletic Director Tom Snook.
