1 killed in Ottawa Co. crash

OTTAWA COUNTY, Ohio — One woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Ottawa County on Wednesday.

The crash happened on South Plasterbed Road and East Schiewe Road in Portage Township around 9:55 p.m.

Police say 45-year-old Stephanie Ochsenbine of Port Clinton was driving a Chevy Malibu southbound on South Plasterbed Road and failed to negotiate a left curve as East Schiewe Road.

Police say the vehicle when off the right side of the road and hit a sign and a tree.

Ochsenbine was not wearing a seat belt and was pronounced dead at Magruder Hospital in Port Clinton.

There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

Police say it is unknown whether alcohol or drugs were a factor. The crash is under investigation.
