1 person killed in Seneca Co. crash

Police say the 35-year-old man was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle.

SENECA COUNTY, Ohio — One person was killed in a crash in Seneca County Wednesday evening.

The crash happened at the intersection of County Road 24 and Township Road 183 in Reed Township around 5:40 p.m.

Police say 74-year-old Calvin Robinson of Republic was driving a Chevy Silverado on TR 183 when he failed to stop at the stop sign and hit 35-year-old Matthew Potts of Republic, who was driving a Ford Explorer.

Both vehicles traveled off the road, with Potts' vehicle overturning.

Police say Potts was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. Potts suffered fatal injuries due to the crash.

Robinson was wearing a seat belt and was not injured in the crash.

Alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be factors of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
