Two people killed after vehicle struck by train in south Toledo

Troopers are asking drivers to proceed with caution through the area.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A vehicle attempting to go around a crossing gate was struck by a train in south Toledo on Saturday afternoon, killing two people.

Police say the car was driving on Holland-Sylvania Rd. near Angola around 2 p.m. when it tried to cross the tracks.

That’s when it was hit by a westbound train.

There were at least two people in the vehicle. Both were killed.

Holland-Sylvania Rd. was closed for hours after the accident.
