Crash involving 2 semis in Fulton County results in road closure, oil leak

The driver of the other involved vehicle was not injured.

FULTON COUNTY, OHIO, Ohio — The driver of a semi truck was injured in a crash early Wednesday, in an incident that resulted in the closure of US 20 in both directions.

According to a press release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a driver was traveling eastbound in a 2020 Freightliner semi at approximately 2:45 a.m. near milepost 25 in Amboy Township. The vehicle traveled left of center and struck another semi, a 2020 Kenworth semi.

The first semi continued off the roadway and came to rest in a ditch on the north side of US 20. The driver was treated at the scene for minor injuries, OSHP said. The driver of the Kenworth was not injured.

The crash resulted in an oil leak of approximately 10 to 15 gallons into a water-filled ditch, OSHP said. The Swanton Fire Department contacted the Ohio EPA to coordinate cleanup.

Crews closed US 20 near the crash in both directions during cleanup. The closure itself is between County Roads 3-3 and 4-1. The incident remains under investigation, OSHP said, and a detour has been set up.
