TOLEDO, Ohio — Gas prices in the Toledo area have dropped nearly 17 cents over the last week, an analyst for GasBuddy says.

A gallon of gas costs, on average, $2.91 in Toledo as of Monday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 315 gas stations. Prices at the pump are nearly 52 cents lower than a month ago.

The GasBuddy survey found the cheapest station in Toledo was priced at $2.57/gallon, while the most expensive was $3.49/gallon. Statewide, the range was $2.47/gallon to $3.79/gallon from least expensive to most expensive.

Nationally, Toledo gas prices are relatively similar to the rest of the country. In a survey of 150,000 gas stations across the U.S. the average price of a gallon of gas fell nearly 7 cents and stands at $3.15, a figure that decreased 26 cents from a month ago, according to GasBuddy.

The national average price of diesel dropped 3 cents in the last week and stands at $3.57/gallon, the lowest level since January 2022.

"Gasoline prices continue to crumble across nearly the entire nation, with average prices below $3 per gallon in 18 states, with some 65,000 stations selling below that psychological mark," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "Diesel prices are also falling and are at their lowest level in nearly 1,000 days."

The average price of a gallon of gas in Toledo on Sept. 16 is significantly cheaper than previous years and is down 73 cents from 2023:
