TOLEDO, Ohio — Gas prices in the Toledo area have dropped nearly 17 cents over the last week, an analyst for GasBuddy says.

A gallon of gas costs, on average, $3.22 in Toledo as of Monday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 315 gas stations. Prices at the pump are 38 cents lower than a month ago.

The GasBuddy survey found the cheapest station in Toledo was priced at $2.89/gallon, while the most expensive was $3.54/gallon. Statewide, the range was $2.71/gallon to $3.79/gallon from least expensive to most expensive.

"It seems fitting that, in the run-up to Labor Day, the national average has fallen for four straight weeks to its lowest point since February, giving Americans one last chance to hit the road with gas prices being less of a factor," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

Nationally, Toledo gas prices are relatively lower than the rest of the country. In a survey of 150,000 gas stations across the U.S. the average price of a gallon of gas fallen 6 cents and stands at $3.30, a figure that decreased nearly 21 cents from a month ago, according to GasBuddy.

The national average price of diesel dropped nearly 3 cents in the last week and stands at $3.67/gallon, a multi-year low.

"GasBuddy is now tracking eight states where average gas prices are already below the $3 per gallon mark, along with nearly 20% of gas stations in the country selling gasoline at $2.99 or lower. These numbers will continue to look better every week as we move into fall," said De Haan.

The average price of a gallon of gas in Toledo on Aug. 26 is significantly cheaper than previous years and is down 21 cents from 2023:

  • Aug. 26, 2023: $3.51g (U.S. Average: $3.80/g)
  • Aug. 26, 2022: $3.57/g (U.S. Average: $3.84/g)
  • Aug. 26, 2021: $2.92/g (U.S. Average: $3.14/g)
