TOLEDO, Ohio — Gas prices in the Toledo area have dropped 20 cents over the last week, an analyst for GasBuddy says.
A gallon of gas costs, on average, $3.08 in Toledo as of Monday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 315 gas stations. Prices at the pump are nearly 44 cents lower than a month ago.
The GasBuddy survey found the cheapest station in Toledo was priced at $2.81/gallon, while the most expensive was $3.57/gallon. Statewide, the range was $2.65/gallon to $3.89/gallon from least expensive to most expensive.
“Impressively, for the sixth straight week, gas prices have dropped to their lowest since winter. GasBuddy now counts 11 states and over 45,000 stations with gas prices below $3 per gallon,” said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Nationally, Toledo gas prices are relatively lower than the rest of the country. In a survey of 150,000 gas stations across the U.S. the average price of a gallon of gas fell 7 cents and stands at $3.22, a figure that decreased 22.5 cents from a month ago, according to GasBuddy.
The national average price of diesel dropped 4.5 cents in the last week and stands at $3.62/gallon, the lowest since early 2022.
“We fully expect gas prices will continue to drop as Americans drive less with the onset of fall. With oil prices falling below $70 per barrel, their lowest since 2021, there’s solid room for gas prices and diesel to continue falling for some time.”
The average price of a gallon of gas in Toledo on Sept. 9 is significantly cheaper than previous years and is down 47 cents from 2023:
- Sept. 9, 2023: $3.55g (U.S. Average: $3.80/g)
- Sept. 9, 2022: $3.56/g (U.S. Average: $3.71/g)
- Sept. 9, 2021: $3.02/g (U.S. Average: $3.17/g)
- Sept. 9, 2020: $1.89/g (U.S. Average: $2.19/g)
