TOLEDO, Ohio — Gas prices in the Toledo area have dropped nearly 23 cents over the last week, an analyst for GasBuddy says.

A gallon of gas costs, on average, $2.72 in Toledo as of Monday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 315 gas stations. Prices at the pump are now about 44.5 cents lower than a month ago.

The GasBuddy survey found the cheapest station in Toledo was priced at $2.22/gallon, while the most expensive was $3.77/gallon. Statewide, the range was $2.22/gallon to $3.79/gallon from least expensive to most expensive.

Nationally, Toledo gas prices are similar to the rest of the country. In a survey of 150,000 gas stations across the U.S. the average price of a gallon of gas was $3.03, a figure that is down nearly 17 cents from last month, according to GasBuddy.

"While the election has come and gone, gas prices have stayed the course, with the national average price of gasoline declining for a fourth consecutive week as seasonal demand weakens and Americans begin to take refuge from falling temperatures," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

The national average price of diesel remains similar to last week standing at $3.52/gallon.

Although the average price of a gallon of gas in Toledo on Nov. 11 is the lowest its been in the last three years, it's significantly higher than it was in 2020.

  • Nov. 11, 2023: $3.25/g (U.S. Average: $3.35/g)
  • Nov. 11, 2022: $3.77/g (U.S. Average: $3.79/g)
  • Nov. 11, 2021: $3.21/g (U.S. Average: $3.41/g)
  • Nov. 11, 2020: $1.94/g (U.S. Average: $2.11/g)

"While some may be surprised by the declines, this was anticipated in our annual Fuel Outlook from last December. With the median U.S. gas price now at $2.95 per gallon, the lowest since 2021, it appears to be just a matter of time before the national average falls below $3 per gallon for the first time since May 2021 — something we've already seen for diesel prices, which many Americans will be thankful for as we get closer to Thanksgiving," said De Haan.
