TOLEDO, Ohio — Gas prices in the Toledo area have increased nearly 11 cents over the last week, an analyst for GasBuddy says.
A gallon of gas costs, on average, $3.20 in Toledo as of Tuesday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 315 gas stations. Prices at the pump are now 11 cents lower than a month ago.
The GasBuddy survey found the cheapest station in Toledo was priced at $2.65/gallon, while the most expensive was $3.29/gallon. Statewide, the range was $2.58/gallon to $3.79/gallon from least expensive to most expensive.
"Another week brings a mixed bag at the gas pump, with gas prices declining in slightly more than half of U.S. states while others have seen increases due to some refinery snags and maintenance that have emerged, temporarily delaying declines in some areas," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
Nationally, Toledo gas prices are similar to the rest of the country. In a survey of 150,000 gas stations across the U.S. the average price of a gallon of gas was $3.17, a figure that has went down 15 cents from a month ago, according to GasBuddy.
The national average price of diesel dropped 1 cent in the last week and now stands at $3.54/gallon.
The average price of a gallon of gas in Toledo on Sept. 30 is significantly cheaper than it has been in the last two years:
- Sept. 30, 2023: $3.45/g (U.S. Average: $3.81/g)
- Sept. 30, 2022: $3.74/g (U.S. Average: $3.75/g)
- Sept. 30, 2021: $3.00/g (U.S. Average: $3.18/g)
- Sept. 30, 2020: $2.14/g (U.S. Average: $2.18/g)
"While Hurricane Helene left feet of rain behind and some states are seeing challenges in getting gasoline to stations, the storm did not broadly impact fuel production. For now, with oil prices falling back below $70 per barrel, the national average may be a bit stuck in the low $3s until fall maintenance wraps up, which could help bring a sub-$3 national average later this fall," said De Haan.
