TOLEDO, Ohio — Gas prices in the Toledo area have increased 19 cents over the last week, an analyst for GasBuddy says.
A gallon of gas costs, on average, $2.96 in Toledo as of Monday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 315 gas stations. Prices at the pump are about 2.5 cents lower than a month ago.
The GasBuddy survey found the cheapest station in Toledo was priced at $2.45/gallon, while the most expensive was $3.19/gallon. Statewide, the range was $2.45/gallon to $3.59/gallon from least expensive to most expensive.
Nationally, Toledo gas prices are slightly lower than the rest of the country. In a survey of 150,000 gas stations across the U.S. the average price of a gallon of gas was $3.00, a figure that is down almost 8 cents from last month, according to GasBuddy.
"Millions took to the road for Thanksgiving, and while some regions, like the Great Lakes, saw gas prices rise just in time for travel, most of the nation saw prices hold mostly stable or decline slightly as the national average remains near the lowest level we've seen since 2021," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.
The national average price of diesel went up slightly to $3.51/gallon.
Although the average price of a gallon of gas in Toledo on Dec. 2 is the lowest its been in the last three years, it's higher than it was in 2020.
- December 2, 2023: $2.92/g (U.S. Average: $3.23/g)
- December 2, 2022: $3.40/g (U.S. Average: $3.39/g)
- December 2, 2021: $3.15/g (U.S. Average: $3.38/g)
- December 2, 2020: $2.02/g (U.S. Average: $2.17/g)
"The weeks ahead should feature slight drops in gas prices in most areas, with over 100,000 stations now offering a gallon for $2.99 or less, which should stick around through the holiday shopping season. While the potential impacts from tariffs are something to watch, they would have no effect until late January."
