TOLEDO, Ohio — Gas prices in the Toledo area have risen nearly 16 cents over the last week, an analyst for GasBuddy says.

A gallon of gas costs, on average, $3.46 in Toledo as of Monday, according to a GasBuddy survey of 315 gas stations. The price is also now 1.5 cents lower than it was a month ago.

The GasBuddy survey found the cheapest station in Toledo was priced at $3.19/gallon, while the most expensive was $3.69/gallon. Statewide, the range was $3.03/gallon to $3.89/gallon from least expensive to most expensive.

Nationally, Toledo gas prices are below the rest of the country. In a survey of 150,000 gas stations across the U.S. the average price of a gallon of gas was $3.56, a figure that has decreased 6.5 cents from a month ago, according to GasBuddy.

The national average price of diesel dropped nearly 3 cents in the last week and stands at $3.82/gallon.

Although the average price of a gallon of gas in Toledo on May 28 has increased over the last four years, it stands 4 cents cheaper than in 2023:

  • May 28, 2023: $3.50/g (U.S. Average: $3.55/g)
  • May 28, 2022: $4.42/g (U.S. Average: $4.60/g)
  • May 28, 2021: $2.96/g (U.S. Average: $3.04/g)
  • May 28, 2020: $1.93/g (U.S. Average: $1.97/g)

"With the summer driving season now underway, average gas prices have seen ups in some areas and downs in others. Most states are seeing prices slightly below their 2024 peak thus far, with some refinery issues in the Great Lakes weighing on prices there, while other areas, like the West Coast, have seen notable relief with more coming," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy.

"June tends to be a month of smooth sailing, where we see gas prices decline in most areas, and that's a trend that looks the most likely for drivers, barring unexpected refinery snags or a tropical storm developing. The national average over Memorial Day was down ever so slightly compared to last year—after adjusting for inflation, prices were down about 10 cents per gallon. Not a terrible way to kick off summer!"
