Traffic reconfigured to 'right-in/right-out' at Key and the Trail for signal repairs; how to navigate

The traffic light was placed in flashing mode while crews repair the light.

MAUMEE, Ohio — Malfunctioning traffic signals at Key Street and the Anthony Wayne Trail in Maumee have caused crews to change the configuration of traffic at the intersection while repairs are made, the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) said in a press release Tuesday.

Due to safety concerns while repairs are being made, crews placed the lights in flash mode and modified the flow of traffic in this intersection to a "right-in/right-out" configuration Tuesday. This is how traffic has been altered at the intersection:

Motorists can:

  • Travel eastbound and westbound on the Anthony Wayne Trail unrestricted
  • Make a right onto the Anthony Wayne Trail eastbound from northbound Key Street
  • Make a right onto the Anthony Wayne Trail westbound from southbound Key Street

Motorists cannot:

  • Cross the Anthony Wayne Trail at Key Street from either direction
  • Make a left onto Key Street from the Anthony Wayne Trail
  • Make a left onto the Anthony Wayne Trail from Key Street

Motorists making a right onto the Anthony Wayne Trail from Key should treat it with standard "right on red" traffic laws.

A visualization of the traffic pattern can be viewed in the video below:

The traffic signals are currently under the responsibility of ODOT while the Anthony Wayne Trail is being resurfaced. While the cause of the malfunction is unknown, ODOT said it expects the light to be repaired by the "end of this week".

Motorists needing to turn against traffic should use White Street and Michigan Avenue as alternate routes of travel.
