HOLLAND, Ohio — As roundabouts continue to be constructed on roadways throughout the area, the Lucas County Engineer's Office is holding its third training for those who want to learn how to navigate them.
The engineer's office, in partnership with the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department and Toledo Driving Schools, is holding a roundabout training session on Thursday, Oct. 24.
The training will be held from 1-4 p.m. with sign-in and instruction taking place in the parking lot of Wonder Ministries, located at 7001 Angola Road in Holland.
Interested drivers are encouraged to sign up before the event HERE or by calling the engineer's office at 419-213-2855. The engineer's office said walk-ons will be accepted but you may experience a wait depending on instructor availability.
The engineer's office said this is the first training session to feature instruction on multi-lane roundabouts.
According to the engineer's office, the course will take drivers through at least eight roundabouts with a driving instructor guiding you through the dos and don'ts, and different scenarios drivers could encounter when going through a roundabout. The practice route is said to take around 20-25 minutes to complete.
“The second event was a success and an improvement over our first last year,” LCEO public information officer Michael Tatar said. “With the great assistance of the health department and our friends at Toledo Driving Schools, we were able to give drivers real road instruction and this time, we’ll be able to do the same for multi-lane roundabouts, which is something everyone we’ve spoken to wants.”
