PERRYSBURG, Ohio — Editor's note: The attached video is from a story about the Perrysburg sewer project that aired on Jan. 17, 2022.
Northwestern Water and Sewage announced on Tuesday that the Perrysburg Sewer Rehabilitation project is now complete.
Originally slated to begin in October 2021, the construction project was delayed due to subcontractor issues. Construction began instead earlier this year.
All lanes of southbound W. Boundary Street between Front Street and W. Sixth are now open. The pedestrian multiuse path that is between Front Street and Indiana Avenue is also open. The project's restoration work will take place off roadways. The total cost of sewer rehabilitation met the projected $747,000.
Sewer repairs were required because of the current infrastructure's age and condition.
"What happens in a sewer, especially in concrete pipes, they reach a certain age where the gases within the sewer cause some of that concrete to deteriorate over time," Public Information Officer for Northwestern Water and Sewer District Theresa Pollick said earlier this year.
