TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police confirmed that a semi truck rolled over on I-75 South during the morning of Saturday, June 29, halting and impeding traffic for several hours.

The incident happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. Traffic cameras from the Ohio Department of Transportation showed traffic backups near the I-75 and I-280 interchange.

Traffic was diverted to exit 210, Alexis Road, for much of the day. In a report, Toledo police said they contacted the Ohio Department of Transportation due to what they described as the complexity of the crash, as well as the amount of fuel that had leaked.

According to ODOT, the semi truck was carrying steel coils before it crashed. Kelsie Hoagland, the spokesperson for ODOT, said oil and diesel fuel were spilled on to the highway, prompting a portion of the southbound interstate to be closed to traffic.

The EPA was on scene for cleanup, according to Hoagland.

Traffic started moving again around 5:45 p.m. according to ODOT.

The extent of the damage caused by the oil spill and what caused the truck to crash are currently unknown. There were no significant injuries reported in the crash.

The incident did result in one arrest. According to another Toledo police report, 42-year-old Jennifer Anteau proceeded to drive down I-75 south around 3 p.m., past and around "very clear" police barricades and markings closing the roadway beyond the Ottawa River Road exit.

Anteau eventually came to a stop prior to the clean up area and the overturned semi truck. According to police, Anteau refused to roll down the vehicle's window, answer questions or exit the vehicle.

Police said they then broke the vehicle's rear window to "gain entry and remove her". Anteau was charged with failure to comply, a fourth degree felony. Anteau's bond was set at $10,000 Monday morning.
