FINDLAY, Ohio — A crash on State Route 15 south of Findlay caused an injury and a road closure Tuesday morning.
According to a press release from Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred near mile post 18 in Jackson Township at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Investigators with OSHP said they were able to determine a 2003 Ford Focus was traveling westbound on SR 15 in the left lane. Meanwhile, a 2022 Freightliner was traveling eastbound on SR 15 in the right lane of travel.
The Ford Focus went off the left side of the roadway, OSHP said, and over-corrected, causing the vehicle to swerve into the right lane of westbound traffic. The driver over-corrected again, causing the vehicle to go off of the left side of the roadway and into the median. It crossed the median and traveled into the oncoming lane of traffic, where it collided head on with the Freightliner.
The driver of the Ford Focus was ejected from the vehicle and sustained life-threatening injuries. The driver was life-flighted to a hospital.
The driver of the Freightliner was not injured, OSHP said.
The crash initially closed all lanes, then, by 9 a.m., only the right lane was closed. The crash remains under investigation.
