TOLEDO, Ohio — EDITOR'S NOTE: The attached video originally aired on Oct. 19, 2021.
The Robert Craig Memorial Bridge is closed Monday due to an electrical issue, representatives with the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) said.
The lightning arrester — which protects the bridge from lightning strikes — is reportedly not working. At the same time, ODOT representatives said, the bridge's electrical fuses blew as there was no surge protection, causing the bridge to lose power.
Toledo Edison, along with engineers and additional crews are working to fix the problem.
The bridge is expected to be operational by the end of the day Monday.
