Lucas County Coroner identifies 3 of 4 Ohio Turnpike crash victims

Thursday's Turnpike crash killed four people and injured multiple others.

LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — The Lucas County Coroner's Office has identified three of the four victims killed in Thursday's Ohio Turnpike crashes.

According to a press release from the coroner's office issued Friday, the following three people have been identified in the incident:

  • Ajla Vukovic, 20, of Utica, New York
  • Dawa Norbu, 9, of Minneapolis, Minnesota
  • Tenzin Drukgyal, 46, of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

All of the victims died from injuries they sustained in the Turnpike crashes, the office said.

The fourth fatality is still pending identification, the office said, adding that they do not anticipate any additional updates into the weekend.

The release of the identity of the final body will come from the Fulton County Coroner, the press release said.

Thursday's three crashes occurred within an hour of each other and involved 12 vehicles. The crashes closed down a 15-mile span of the Ohio Turnpike in Fulton and Lucas counties for most of Thursday. The crash also resulted in the spillage of sulfuric acid.

Authorities arrested 24-year-old Istam Naimov in the crash. He is charged with aggravated vehicular homicide; vehicular manslaughter: negligently, a second-degree misdemeanor.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crashes.
