OHIO, USA — A 49-year-old man is dead following a two-vehicle crash on Holloway Rd. in Springfield Twp. Wednesday.
According to troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Duane Powell, 70, of Maumee, Ohio was headed northbound on Holloway Rd. at Sawmill Run Rd. while Michael Fauver, 49, of Holland, Ohio was driving a motorcycle in the same direction on the same road.
Crews said that Fauver slowed to turn left onto Sawmill Run Rd. when Powell failed to maintain assured clear distance ahead and struck Fauver's motorcycle.
After the collision, Powell went off the left side of the roadway and came to rest along a fence line.
Fauver was ejected from the motorcycle coming to rest off the left side of the roadway. The motorcycle came to rest in the middle of the road.
Fauver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
According to authorities, Powell was wearing a seatbelt, but Fauver was not wearing a helmet.
Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time and the crash remains under investigation.
