TOLEDO, Ohio — If you've been driving between west and south Toledo this summer, you may be getting orange barrel fever.
Good news, at least some of those projects are wrapping up.
The repaving on Bancroft is in the final stages.
"There were a few pavement repairs, but in general they took 3 inches of asphalt off and put 3 inches of asphalt back, and you know, that extends the life of the road quite a bit, for a whole lot less than a reconstruction, so there will be some small zones that will get set up, but here within the next couple of weeks, everything should be buttoned up," said Doug Stephens.
Stephens is the administrator for the City of Toledo Department of Engineering Services.
Holland Sylvania is seeing more closures as the waterline replacement under the road progresses.
They're done with the section up until Swan Creek, but for the time being you may have even more trouble getting around.
For example, the Wolf Creek YMCA can only be accessed right now by taking Airport Highway to Holland Sylvania southbound, the northbound lanes from Perrysburg Holland are closed.
"Tentatively it's going to be through the first week of November barring no weather issues or things, but everything at the Y is still going on, we have all of our programming, all of our swim classes, exercise classes, the wellness center, child care is all going on as scheduled, we are not letting that interrupt us, even if we have some headaches with the traffic," said Linda Napier, the Membership Director at the Wolf Creek YMCA.
The Perrysburg Holland bridge is set to reopen this weekend, possibly as soon as Friday.
A collaboration between both the Ohio Turnpike and City of Toledo contractors have produced a lot of work needed to be done in that area, including widening the turnpike.
Once it's all done, road construction through that part of town should be at a minimum for the coming years.
