ALERT DAY: 3 things to know about Wednesday night's storm threat

The WTOL 11 Weather Team is forecasting possible severe storms Wednesday evening. Here's what you need to know.

TOLEDO, Ohio — The WTOL 11 Weather Team has issued an ALERT DAY for Wednesday evening and night due to the threat for severe storms. Here are three things you need to know about Wednesday's storm threat. 

1) Strong storms possible

When current thunderstorm systems moving in from the west reach northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan, environmental conditions will support the threat for strong to severe thunderstorms. 

2) Main threats

The main threats of Wednesday's storm will be downpours, winds and hail. Earlier Wednesday, northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan experienced heavy rain. With continued humidity, heavy rain will be a concern again.

Damaging winds are also possible. Before the storm, bring plastic lawn chairs and summer decorations inside. Hail is also possible.

There is also a low to medium threat of tornadoes. The current setup is conditional for tornado development.

3) Timing

This storm is set to arrive between 6 p.m. and midnight Wednesday. The system is expected to exit by midnight.
