WHEN

The risk of strong to severe storms will be from noon to 8 pm.

The risk of storms will continue into the evening but will end before dusk on Tuesday. There will be no risk of severe weather after dark on Tuesday.

IMPACT

It's a risk, so it does not mean all areas will see severe weather.

Confidence is increasing in the chance of strong and severe storms erupting by early afternoon. The environment will be possible for severe storms, perhaps even a few rotating supercell thunderstorms. While it is a lower risk, the chance of a few isolated tornadoes cannot be ruled out. The bottom line is if storms develop as expected, the main risk will be gusty winds, large hail and downpours.

Be prepared for power outages in the case of gusty winds and severe weather. Winds over 60 mph will be possible with these storms and will pose the risk of power outages and could be dangerous to those caught unprepared and outdoors.

NEED

It is uncertain as to how much any early morning storms impact the chance of afternoon storms, but a very warm and humid surge of air will send highs into the 80s by early afternoon.

If you have outdoor activities planned, please have multiple ways of receiving warnings. If there are outdoor sports or activities, have alternate plans or a severe weather plan in place for the kids and family. Stay weather-aware through the day Tuesday until the WTOL 11 Weather team gives the all-clear.
