TOLEDO, Ohio — WTOL 11's Weather Team has issued an ALERT DAY for Tuesday, Aug. 27 due to extreme heat.
Temperatures for Tuesday are expected to be near 95 degrees or above, with heat indices well into the triple digits. Data indicates that heat indices will likely range from the 100-degree mark to the 105-degree mark for Tuesday.
Along with the extreme heat, high humidity levels will make Tuesday afternoon extremely muggy, as dewpoints reach the low 70s, which is very high for humid conditions.
School is back in session for many, so mandatory outdoor practices for fall sports like football, band, cross country and soccer need to remain weather aware. Limiting outdoor activities and drinking plenty of water is recommended.
Data indicates that the Toledo Metro has had a fairly mild August so far.
Monday and Wednesday will see hot temperatures and humid weather as well.
A small chance for thunderstorms is also on the radar. WTOL 11's Weather Team will continue to monitor the extreme heat and weather conditions through the Alert Day.
