TOLEDO, Ohio — You've heard of spinach in your desserts, but what about black bean brownies? Brianna Stewart of Jera's Heavenly Sweet and the Black Girl Baking Show demonstrated a recipe for black bean brownies that are are more nutritious than regular brownies - and delicious.
Ingredients
- 1 15-oz cans of black beans drained and rinsed well
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup gluten free oatmeal
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup agave
- 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup gluten free chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- Grease 8x8-inch pan
- Combine all ingredients except chocolate chips in a food processor or blender and blend until smooth (a few minutes)
- Stir half the chocolate chips in and put into baking pan. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top
- Bake for 15-18 minutes
- Let cool at least 10 minutes before cutting
