TOLEDO, Ohio — The U.S. Marshals Service is seeking the public's assistance in locating an accused violent offender with local ties, with a reward offered for his arrest.

Benjamin Chapman, 32, allegedly struck and injured an officer with his vehicle in the town of Ulster, New York, and fled the scene.

The incident happened on March 30, 2021, when Chapman was pulled over for a traffic violation, according to a news release Tuesday from the Marshal Service's Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. At the time, Chapman had a warrant for his arrest issued by the Ulster Town Court for criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The officer suffered unspecified injuries from the assault, the Marshals said. Chapman has been on the run since the incident and has committed other violent offenses in other states. The Marshals did not specify where those offenses may have occurred.
