Suspect pleads not guilty to charges including murder, abuse of corpse in death of Diana Turk

David Jensen was already in jail on an unrelated charge when he was indicted in January for the murder of Diana Turk, whose body was found in a Toledo home in 2023.

TOLEDO, Ohio — A suspect in the 2023 death of Diana Turk, who police found dead in an east Toledo residence last summer, pleaded not guilty to all charges on Wednesday.

A Lucas County grand jury indicted 54-year-old David Jensen in January. During an arraignment Wednesday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court, Jensen pleaded not guilty to charges of aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault and abuse of a corpse.

Jensen was already in custody on an unrelated charge when he was indicted, according to a Toledo police report.

Police initially located Turk, 54, after receiving information that a decaying body was in a residence in the 700 block of Deal Street on Aug. 23, 2023. Police made entry into the building and located a deceased person, who was referred to as a Jane Doe until an investigation and autopsy identified her as Turk.

The coroner ruled Turk's death a homicide and said she died from blunt force trauma to the head and chest on Aug. 24.

Turk's family told WTOL 11 that she is related to Cindy Sumner, who was 21 years old when she disappeared in August 2009. Sumner's body was found inside an abandoned north Toledo warehouse that September. Her accused killer died in the Lucas County Jail while awaiting trial in 2013.
