Two found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in 2021 south Toledo homicide

The suspects were initially charged with murder.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Two of the three suspects in the 2021 south Toledo homicide of 24-year-old Everett White entered Alford pleas Wednesday and were found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. 

Taiwan Griffin and Devin Ferguson were initially charged with murder for White's homicide. Both Griffin and Ferguson were arrested in 2022; a third suspect, 26-year-old Titus Crittendon was arrested in January 2023 near Cleveland. 

Griffin and Ferguson are due back in court for sentencing on May 17. Crittendon is also expected to appear in court on May 17 for a pre-trial hearing. 

On Dec. 18, 2021, Toledo police responded to the 1200 block of Broadway Street in the parking lot of the Heritage South Shopping Plaza. Officers discovered White had been shot inside his vehicle. He later died at the hospital.
