LUCAS COUNTY, Ohio — A former Maumee foster parent and Springfield Township firefighter pleaded guilty Thursday to child sex crime charges in a Lucas County court, just over one week after being convicted in federal court.
During an appearance Thursday in the Lucas County Court of Common Pleas, Jeremy Chesser withdrew his previous not guilty plea and pleaded guilty to Gross Sexual Imposition, Endangering Children and two counts of Unlawful Sexual Conduct with a Minor.
Chesser initially pleaded not guilty to 19 charges including child sex crimes in Lucas County, before his change of plea Thursday morning.
As part of the plea agreement with the state for the four charges, Chesser faces 14 years and 4 months to run concurrent with the federal charges of 30 years.
Chesser is the father of 10 children, several of whom are foster children. He was a foster parent at the time of his arrest in August 2023.
He will be sentenced in Lucas County Court of Common Pleas on Aug. 8 at 9 a.m.
