MONROE, Mich. — A jury found a man guilty Thursday in the killing of Kayla Sedoskey, a 23-year-old Monroe woman, while three other suspects have pleaded guilty to charges in the case and two are awaiting trial.
Sedoskey's body was found covered in a tarp on the floor of the abandoned Boysville juvenile detention center in Frenchtown Twp., on March 2, 2023, according to Michigan State Police. According to a press release issued by the Monroe County Prosecutor's Office Friday, Sedoskey was shot three times.

Michigan State Police said they conducted an extensive year-long investigation, leading to the arrest of six suspects, including Steven Bails, of Frenchtown Township, after a stand-off with U.S. Marshalls.
According to a press release from Michigan State Police issued Friday, Steven Bails, 45, was found guilty on first-degree homicide and conspiracy to commit homicide in Michigan's 38th Circuit Court. The county prosecutor's office said the jury deliberated for an hour and a half prior to the verdict. The trial in the testimony included information from co-defendants Narena Bails, Sierra Bemis and Alexander Feko, as well as 20 witnesses and evidence from 60 exhibits.
Steven Bails and his wife, now 24-year-old Narena Bails were arrested in April 2023 in North Carolina, and were extradited to Michigan. Both were charged with homicide - open murder and conspiracy to commit homicide.
Following the guilty verdict, Steven Bails is scheduled to be sentenced on May 23.
According to the press release, Narena Bails previously pleaded guilty to second degree homicide, with court records placing the plea on Feb. 23. The same day, a judge dismissed a homicide - open murder charge and homicide - first degree premeditated murder charge against Narena Bails. Narena Bails is scheduled for sentencing on May 23 and has a bond of $1 million.
24-year-old Sierra Bemis was also charged in Sedoskey's death. Bemis entered a plea of guilty to second-degree homicide on Feb. 8, per court records and a press release. Two other charges, one of homicide - open murder and another of homicide - second degree murder, were dismissed. Bemis is scheduled for sentencing on May 23 with a bond of $500,000.
Brin Smith, 20, has been charged with homicide - open murder and homicide - first degree premeditated murder. Smith is scheduled for trial on April 22. A judge set Smith's bond at $1 million.

Kaylyn Ramsey, 33, was charged with homicide - open murder and homicide - first degree murder. Ramsey is scheduled to appear in court on May 13 and has a bond of $1 million.
Alexander Feko, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of tampering with evidence on Jan. 26, court records showed. The same day, Feko pleaded guilty to three counts of accessory to homicide after the fact. Feko is scheduled for sentencing on May 23 and has a bond of $275,000.
