LENAWEE COUNTY, Mich. — A Michigan teen is facing two charges, including murder, in the shooting death of a hunter that occurred in late 2023, the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office said in a press release Tuesday.
Detectives from the sheriff's office arrested Trenton Berry, 17, in Jackson, Michigan on Monday for the alleged shooting and killing of Kirt Stubbins, a 41-year-old from Addison, Michigan. Berry is accused of shooting Stubbins while both were hunting in Rollin Township on Nov. 30. According to the Lenawee County Sheriff, Berry's mother was in a dating relationship with Stubbins at the time of the shooting.
Berry was charged and arraigned as an adult Tuesday on charges of open murder and felony possession of a firearm. A judge set the suspect's bond to $10 million dollars for the murder charge and $5,000 for the firearm charge.
Berry will remain in custody and will reappear in court for a hearing in March, the sheriff's office said.
