TOLEDO, Ohio — A driver accused of a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a 72-year-old pedestrian in west Toledo last year has pleaded no contest.
Kyle Hassan-Morgan, 26, pleaded no contest last month to charges of aggravated vehicular homicide and failure to stop after an accident. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday, Oct. 31.
According to court documents, 72-year-old Ralph Hamilton Jr. was crossing Douglas Road when he was struck by a vehicle driven by Hassan-Morgan on June 20, 2023. Hassan-Morgan initially stopped before fleeing the scene of the crash, police said.
At the time of the crash, Hassan-Morgan had a suspended license.
Hamilton was taken to the hospital and died from his injuries.
In the days following the crash, the Toledo Police Department requested the public's help in locating the driver of the car believed to be responsible. Hassan-Morgan was arrested in October 2023.
