Man shot in chest early Tuesday in west Toledo

The 26-year-old victim told police he was walking down Kenwood Boulevard near Midwood Avenue when he heard a shot and saw a flash.

A 26-year-old man was shot early Tuesday morning in west Toledo.

Toledo police responded to a ShotSpotter alert in the parking lot of the Ottawa Park substation just after 12:30 a.m. No evidence was found, but five minutes later Deshawn Darden walked into the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

According to a police report, the wound was superficial and treated. Darden told police he was walking down Kenwood Boulevard near Midwood Avenue in west Toledo when he heard a shot and saw a flash, and realized he was shot.

Darden walked to the hospital.
