TOLEDO, Ohio — The Toledo Police Department is investigating an apparent shooting that happened shortly after 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 10 in central Toledo.

Police responded to the 1700 block of Forest after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. On the way, police received a call regarding a person shot in the 1000 block of Oakwood. Police responded to the Oakwood location and found a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Police described the victim's injuries as non-life threatening.

Further investigation found that a home on Forest had been hit by a gray Chevy Silverado Truck, damaging the side of the home and its electrical box. According to TPD, the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene. The truck was located in an alleyway near Lincoln Avenue and Oakwood Avenue.

While residents in the home were not injured from the crash, it is believed that the shooting occurred in connection to the incident.

TPD officers stated that the truck was struck by bullets at least six times. According to a Toledo police report, it is believed the shooting victim fled from the truck to the Oakwood address after being shot on Forest.

It was made unclear by TPD who started firing at who during the incident.

No arrests have been made.
