Oregon police: Suspects took down camera, tried to steal vehicle

OREGON, Ohio — Oregon police are seeking assistance from the public in identifying two suspects accused of an attempted vehicle theft. 

In a social media post from the city's police division, police said security video captured two suspects approach a vehicle in the backyard of a residence. In the video, which was included in the post, one of the suspects can be seen looking up at the camera before taking it down. The camera captured the masked face of one of the suspects before it was placed on the ground.

Police said in the post that the suspects broke the window of the vehicle in an attempt to gain entry, but were scared off when the resident of the home turned on the outside light. 

Oregon police did not give the precise location of the attempted crime. 

Police ask anyone with information about this incident or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact Detective Sergeant E. Depinet at 419-698-7178 or edepinet@oregonohio.org.
