Police reports: Weekend shootings around Toledo injure six people, strike multiple buildings and vehicles

Law enforcement are investigating multiple shooting incidents that occurred over the weekend.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo police are investigating multiple shooting incidents throughout the city over the weekend that resulted in at least six people shot and several habitations struck by gunfire. 

Law enforcement responded to the 2300 block of Eastbrook Drive in west Toledo at approximately 12:45 a.m. Saturday regarding shots fired. Police located two occupied residences that had been struck by gunfire. Two shooting victims, one 18 years old and the other a juvenile, were transported to a hospital by private vehicle prior to police arrival. According to authorities, both victims sustained non life-threatening injuries. 

In another incident Saturday, police responded to the 700 block of Arcadia Avenue in central Toledo at approximately 6:30 a.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. Police located brass casings in front of a residence; the resident stated the home had been struck by at least two bullets, causing damage police were able to locate. No injuries were reported.

Also on Saturday at approximately 6:30 a.m., police responded to the 200 block of East Pearl Street in north Toledo following a ShotSpotter alert. Police claimed they located brass casings in the street and observed damage to a vehicle and a building from apparent gunshots. 

The resident of the building was not injured, police said. However, law enforcement were made aware of a walk-in gunshot wound at a hospital regarding a victim who sustained a gunshot wound to the arm and hand, police said. The victim told police he was walking on the sidewalk on East Pearl Street when he was struck by gunfire. 

Toledo police responded to a third Shot Spotter alert on Saturday for six rounds fired in the 900 block of Islington Street at approximately 8:47 p.m. Authorities also received a 911 call from a resident of the central Toledo location, who said her vehicle had been struck by gunfire while she was passing the area, but she was unharmed.

Police responded to another shooting several hours later. At approximately 12:15 a.m. Sunday, police responded to the 200 block of Charles Street in south Toledo regarding a person shot and a building struck. According to a police report, a residence had been struck multiple times by gunfire during the incident, and a person had been struck in the back by gunfire. Police described the injury as a "non-life threatening graze wound" and said the victim declined medical treatment at the hospital. No other injuries were reported. 

In another shooting Sunday, police responded to the 400 block of Clark Street in east Toledo regarding a call for a person shot. Upon arrival, police observed the victim and suspect were not at the scene, according to a report. Police were notified the victim arrived at a hospital for a gunshot wound to the hand. A time was not given for this incident. 

Police responded to a hospital at approximately 6:30 a.m. Sunday, also regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, they located a victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. However, the victim was "uncooperative" with investigators, according to police, and law enforcement were not able to determine where the shooting took place. 

Police have not indicated if they are investigating any of the incidents as related.
