Student accused of making threat at Michigan tech school faces disciplinary, criminal action

In a follow-up press release, the school said a suspected student confessed to local law enforcement to making the threat.

ADRIAN, Mich. — A Lenawee County high school student is facing criminal and school disciplinary action after allegedly writing a false threat on a bathroom wall of a technical education school.

On Nov. 14, a press release posted to the Lenawee Intermediate School District TECH Center's website stated a written threat was discovered by another student on a restroom wall and was reported to the school administration.

School administrators promptly notified officers with the Adrian Police Department who immediately began an investigation into the threat.

The threat was reported around 2:45 p.m. after most of the students departed for the day, according to a press release.

"Based on the information that has been collected thus far by law enforcement and the LISD, we have no reason to believe that the threats will be carried out," school officials said in the initial press release.

"The individual(s) responsible will be held accountable both criminally and through school disciplinary proceedings to the fullest extent of the law."

In a follow-up press release posted on Nov. 15, the school said a suspected student confessed to making the threat.

The press releases did not state exactly what the threat said.

As a safety precaution, the LISD TECH Center resumed classes on Nov. 15 and 16 with an enhanced law enforcement presence, including canine units.
