TOLEDO, Ohio — A student is facing disciplinary action and criminal charges after allegedly bringing a loaded firearm into Woodward High School Monday morning.
According to a statement from Toledo Public Schools, Woodward administrators were alerted at approximately 9:30 a.m. that a student was possibly in possession of a weapon. Per a Toledo Police report, School Resource Officers were notified, and detained the suspected student and found he had a loaded firearm in his left jacket pocket.
The suspect, a 17-year-old, was arrested and booked into the Juvenile Justice Center, where he now faces at least one charge of illegal conveyance of a deadly weapon. TPS Deputy Superintendent James Grant said in the statement the suspect also faces disciplinary action from the school.
No direct threats had been made against any students, staff or the school, Grant said. The school day continued without disruption and parents were notified of the situation in an "All Call" from Woodward's principal.
