TOLEDO, Ohio — A man accused of stabbing a woman multiple times over the weekend at the Chessie Circle Trail in west Toledo was arrested Wednesday on a felonious assault charge, according to court documents.
Alejandro Salazar, 26, is accused of stabbing the 34-year-old victim with a knife "several times in the legs and torso" Saturday afternoon, documents show.
The victim, who was hospitalized in critical condition due to her injuries, identified Salazar to authorities.
In a report Thursday, Toledo police said they conducted a warrant service at a home in the 3700 block of Bellevue Avenue. Toledo police said they attempted to make contact with those inside but received no answer, and ultimately made entry into the home.
Police said Salazar was not in the home, but they were able to obtain information regarding his whereabouts, and arrested him approximately 30 minutes later.
According to Toledo police, the victim said the suspect asked to use her phone and then asked the woman to perform a sex act. TPD said the woman declined and was maced by the suspect and then stabbed twice in the leg and once on her right side.
The assault happened near Bowman Park by Jackman Road.
