Police: Employee sustains 'serious injury' in north Toledo Family Dollar robbery

Police responded to the 3000 block of Cherry Street after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Police are investigating after an employee was injured in a north Toledo robbery Wednesday afternoon. 

According to a Toledo police report, crews responded to the Family Dollar location in the 3000 block of Cherry Street at approximately 2:40 p.m. Police said a 59-year-old employee of the store sustained "serious" injuries in an altercation during the robbery, but is expected to survive. They were transported to the hospital. 

The police report did not indicate any arrests were made and authorities continue to investigate the incident.
