An investigation determined Christopher L. Taylor, 49, of Trenton, Michigan, was driving a motorcycle northbound on I-75 north of Bay Creek Road in Erie Township when sideswiped by Dillard, the sheriff's office said.

Witnesses told authorities that Dillard had been speeding when he struck Taylor's motorcycle. The collision caused both vehicles to strike a concrete barrier. Taylor died at the hospital.

Dillard was not injured but was arrested at the scene by responding law enforcement for suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
