TOLEDO, Ohio — A man was charged with multiple misdemeanor counts after threatening neighbors with a gun and resisting arrest at an incident in south Toledo early Saturday, according to a police report and court documents.

Toledo police responded to the 2700 block of Burwell Drive, where residents said their neighbor was pointing a gun at them and threatening to shoot them. The victims also told police the neighbor began using racial slurs against them during the incident.

Officers then attempted to make contact with the suspect, whom police described as "uncooperative", as he would not come to the door nor identify himself to police, according to the report. Police then filed warrants for the suspect, later identified as 28-year-old Cody Noel, on charges of aggravated menacing and failure to disclose information.

Police returned to the address to conduct a warrant service. According to the report, Noel refused "numerous requests" to leave the residence. In a court document, police said Noel had barricaded the front door.

Police said they issued repeated warnings, before ultimately forcing entry into the residence.

While trying to arrest Noel, Noel allegedly resisted and grabbed the barrel of an officer's weapon, police claimed.

Police were ultimately able to subdue Noel and place him into custody. In the report, police stated Noel admitted to consuming "15 shots of alcohol and two 'dabs'".

Toledo Fire and Rescue crews examined Noel and transported him to the hospital for pre-existing medical conditions.
